Acceptance
By using Rate Your Advisor ("the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Eligibility
You must have a valid US institutional email address (.edu) to submit a review. By submitting, you confirm that you have had a direct working relationship with the advisor you are reviewing.
Honesty pledge
By submitting a review you affirm that:
- You personally worked with the advisor you are reviewing
- Your review reflects your genuine experience
- You are not submitting a review on behalf of another person
- You are not the advisor being reviewed
Prohibited content
You may not submit content that:
- Is knowingly false or fabricated
- Contains personal attacks, slurs, or harassment unrelated to the advising relationship
- Discloses private personal information about the advisor beyond their public professional role
- Violates any applicable law
User responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content of your review. Rate Your Advisor is a neutral platform and does not endorse, verify, or adopt the views expressed in any review. The platform operates under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which protects it from liability for user-generated content.
Content moderation
We reserve the right to remove any review that violates these terms or our Content Policy, at our sole discretion, without prior notice.
Disclaimer of warranties
The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any review. Ratings reflect individual experiences and opinions only.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rate Your Advisor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or reliance on any review content.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
